2021 ZGravy Chase

ZGravy Chase traditionally welcomes families from throughout central Indiana and beyond. For the 2019 race*, the race had participants from 24 states and three countries. Runners and walkers include parents with strollers, families with dogs, and participants ranging in age from infants to 87 years old.

Our goal in starting this event was to create a lasting revenue source for the Club and the youth in our community, especially those who need us most. In addition, we wanted to bring a race to Boone County to start a new family and friends tradition on Thanksgiving Day that will remind us how thankful we are for this community and all of the individuals that help make this a great place to live, work and play.

As the board president, I am overwhelmed by the hard work and generosity of the staff, volunteers, sponsors, Town of Zionsville, and thousands of participants. ZGravy Chase is truly a community-wide event! Race Maker Productions took a chance on promoting our event in 2017 and has been an incredible partner helping to produce and grow ZGravy Chase.

About the Boys & Girls Club of Boone County

Prior to COVID-19, the Boys & Girls Club of Boone County– Lebanon, Whitestown and Zionsville Units– served 450 members daily and 3,000 total members. The Club offers before and after school programming with transportation to and from community schools. In addition to our daily school programming, the Club offers sports leagues, summer camps and events open to the local community. In the Lebanon Unit, we feed an average of 100 children, five days a week. Without the meal provided by the Club, most of the children would go hungry until school the next day.

The Boys & Girls Club of Boone County’s Emergency Meal Program, established in mid-March, became an essential program in Boone County. When county schools moved to eLearning and the statewide shelter in place order was issued, the organization staff and volunteers served 18,867 meals in-total, drive through style, to anyone in need in the community.  The program ran from March 16 until July 2, 16 weeks, 76 days and 2,160 volunteer hours. During the month of July, we distributed meals to be cooked at home twice a week, serving an additional 2,473 meals.

The mission of the Boys & Girls Club of Boone County is to enable all area youth, especially those that need them most, to develop the skills, fitness, and character they need to reach their full potential as productive, caring, and responsible citizens. The vision is to provide Boone County youth a world-class experience that assures success is within reach for everyone who enters our doors, with all members on track to graduate from high school with a plan for the future, demonstrating good character and citizenship, and living a healthy lifestyle.

“This new holiday tradition has been embraced by the community. We look forward to growing this event to be the premier northside Thanksgiving Day race.”
